About this Event

Behind Hidden Doors are fun, story-filled, free 90-minute guided tour that takes you inside some of downtown Cleveland’s most beautifully restored buildings—now reimagined as modern residential spaces. Offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays with two different routes, each experience uncovers a new set of places and stories.

These buildings have lived many lives. Along the way, your guide will share when they were built, what they were originally designed for, how they fell into decline, and what it took to bring them back. Through historic tax credit redevelopment, each has been transformed into residential + retail properties—where history isn’t just preserved, it’s part of everyday living.

Inside, you’ll explore model apartments and community spaces, getting a firsthand look at how original architectural character has been thoughtfully blended with the comfort and style of modern living.

Tuesdays Route: Superior Ave - E9th St - Euclid Ave  • May 5, 12, 19

Leader Building built in 1913 was home to Cleveland newspaper The Cleveland Leader, a Cleveland newspaper now, Residences at Leader.

East Ohio Building built in 1958 was one of the first modern high-rises in Cleveland, now Residences at 1717.

Pope + Halle Building built in 1908 was home to Halle’s department store, now Residences at Halle.

Hanna Building built in 1922 was home to a beautiful Pompeian style and office, now Residences at Hanna.

These one-of-a-kind experiences are made possible through the partnership of K&D whose work in restoring and reimagining historic buildings helps ensure these stories continue to be lived today.
