Beginning Wood Carving - Gnome See-Ums

In this entry-level class you will learn the basics of wood carving while creating a detailed, high-relief character carving from start to finish. The class will cover essential topics such as tool and shop safety, selecting the appropriate wood, understanding basic carving tools, and learning fundamental carving cuts and techniques used to shape, texture, and add detail. Instruction will follow a step-by-step process with guided demonstrations, allowing each participant to safely and confidently complete their own carving. Additional guidance on finishing and painting techniques will also be provided. By the end of the class, you will have built a strong foundation in carving and leave with the skills and confidence to continue carving on your own. Everyone will take home their own completed carving.
