SAFE SITTER® COURSE NOW BEING OFFERED
Students Learn Home Alone Safety & More
Lexington Medical Center is offering Safe Sitter® courses for those in grades 6-8th.
This class is located at the Main Hospital Campus.
More than 600,000 young teens have graduated from the medically-accurate program which teaches how, why, and where injuries happen so they can be prevented. The cost of the course is $40.00. This includes the course, course materials, Safe Sitter certification card and Safe Sitter notepad .
Please bring a bagged lunch, snacks will be provided.
The course provides hands-on practice in lifesaving techniques to young teens who are home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting so they are equipped with the skills and confidence to act in an emergency. They learn basic first aid and infant and child choking rescue and CPR. ( They are not certified in CPR, but start learning the basics)
Students also receive instruction on how a child’s age affects how to care for them, how to prevent problem behavior, and how to run their own babysitting business.
Students who graduate from a Safe Sitter® course receive a completion card demonstrating that they know how to use their skills in situations they encounter.
A Safe Sitter registration form will be emailed for each child attending to be brought to class.
