About this Event
Class Description: Learn to make your own, unique handspun yarn on a spinning wheel! We'll play with several types of prepared wool while we discuss wheel maintenance, drafting, treadling, plying, and finishing techniques to make a balanced yarn. Bring your own wheel! No previous experience required. Warning: Spinning can be addictive!
Instructor Biography: Marcia Weinert, who is “Undeniable Loopy!”, loves her wool and sheep. Her handspun skeins and original knitwear designs have taken top honors at some of America’s largest festivals, and her patterns appear in print. She teaches spinning, felting, knitting, and crochet in many venues across the northeast.
Prerequisites: No experience needed.
Class Fee: $50
Materials Fee: $5 to be paid to instructor at class time, for all fibers, handouts, and use of tools
Maximum Class Size: 7 Students
Target Age: Age 16 and above
What do I need to bring? A spinning wheel in good working order.
