About this Event

You’re Invited: Bed Mobility Through a PEOP Lens – "Turning Theory into Movement"
Live Stream & Practical Session

Registration: from 9.15 am
Live Stream: 9.30 am – 10.30 am
Practical Skills: 10:30 am – 11:30 am

Bed mobility is a foundational skill that enables a person to manage their own routines, such as personal hygiene, dressing and transfers. Optimising how a person moves in bed sustains autonomy, dignity and promotes physical well-being. It helps maintain skin integrity, reduces other health complications, and encourages active participation in daily life. For individuals with movement limitations, assistive technology (AT) can aid personal independence and support caregivers.

Using the PEOP Model, this APT event highlights the key elements of bed mobility, considering the intrinsic and environmental factors, and occupational tasks that impact performance outcomes and occupational participation. Following an in-showroom video-link with the Aidacare Clinical & Training Team, attendees will have the opportunity to trial assistive technology focusing on practical functions, features, and techniques that empower clients to achieve their personal goals and maximise independence in their home environment.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By attending this APT, participants will be able to

  • Apply the PEOP model, to help understand the personal, environmental and occupational tasks of bed mobility that enable performance and participation
  • consolidate learning through the opportunity to trial the key elements of bed mobility
  • understand considerations when selecting AT, and functions and features of AT that will assist with bed mobility
  • see and trial new products in the showroom, including those related to bed mobility

Presenters:
This session is presented by the Aidacare Clinical Training and Development Team, comprised of experienced Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. Supporting therapists in selecting the right equipment to enhance their client's independence and quality of life.
