Beauty, Wellness, and Health in the Somali Community

Kayd will be hosting an evening of women’s beauty, wellness, design and fashion events. This promises to be a rich and informative event mixing serious topics such as skin-bleaching and a rapidly changing concept of beauty with creative designs and a fashion show. There will be stalls where people can purchase designer merchandise.

Kayd presents a panel of powerhouse women who are making a name for themselves within the beauty and wellness space. American-Somali Amira Adawe, the founder of the BeautyWell project and a campaigner of the dangers of skin-lightening cream, will be joined by beauty marketer, aesthetician and co-founder of Botanical Mission, a London based health and skin clinic Hafsa Issa-Salwe, mother’s fitness and wellness advocate Hamda Bulbul, as well as mental health professional and advocate Fardowsa Ali in conversation with Ubah Ali, a social activist and wellness advocate.
