BCT Friday Bumps and Babes Playgroup

The BCT Bumps and Babes playgroup is the place to meet families in Basel! Come connect with new and expecting parents and introduce your baby to their very first friends! This group is especially designed for those from expecting parents up to one year old babies. It is a great resource to ask questions and exchange advice with other parents. The BCT's prenatal and postnatal educator, Susie Atkinson, can also share her insider tips to childbirth and parenting in the Basel area.

The group meets at Magical Cafe (Max Kämpf Platz 2, 4058 Basel) on Fridays from 10:45-12:15. The Cafe has a lovely play area for small children as well as a nice selection of drinks, baked goods, daily soup, and bagels for lunch. BCT members who show their digital membership card during the playgroup timeslot will receive a discount on their purchase.

Attendance to the BCT playgroup is free for BCT members. Non-members are welcome to 2 free visits to try the playgroup. Afterwards please purchase a membership or pay 5 CHF per visit to support the BCT.

One special feature of the BCT Bumps and Babes playgroup is that it is held immediately following Susie Atkinson's Mignon Baby Connected and Contented Baby Course. Mignon Baby is a partner of the BCT and offers various courses for pre- and post-natal support. The Connected and Contented Baby course is a great way to help your baby make both cognitive and social connections. With the playgroup following, it is an excellent opportunity to connect with useful information as well as connect with other parents and expecting parents.

Please not that BCT members are entitled to a discount for Connected and Contented Baby Course. BCT members recieve 5 CHF off for an individual class or a discount of 10 CHF for a block booking of four or more classes Connected and Contented Baby Course.

It is not required for BCT playgroup attendees to also attend the Connected and Contented Baby Course. One can attend either the course or the playgroup or both.

For families with toddlers and older children we recommend our BCT Friday Playgroup at Spielgruppe St Johann for an open play format with plenty of toys and activities to entertain the children (10:00-12:00). Please see the BCT Friday Playgroup description for more information. This play group provides an ideal transition for those whose babies begin to be too old for the Bumps and Babes group.

BCT Playgroup Rules

1. Please support the BCT. Non-members are welcome to 2 free visits per playgroup. Afterwards please purchase a membership or pay 5 CHF per visit.

2. Photo Policy: Avoid taking photos with other children in the background. Do not post photos of other children on your personal social media accounts, WhatsApp chats, etc.

3. You may come late or leave early as suits your little one’s schedule.

4. Tidy a few toys before you leave. The BCT is volunteer run.

5. Eat only in designated areas.

6. Remove your shoes upon entry to the play areas

7. Take dirty nappies out with you (Tues. Thurs., and Fri. groups)

8. Parents are responsible for their own child.
