Join Bay Area Explorers at Joaquin Miller Park for a short evening hike along Sinawik Loop. This one is only about 1.2 miles, making it a great option for beginners, anyone easing into hiking, or anyone who just wants to get outside and meet some new people after the workweek.
Distance: ~1.2 miles
Time: ~45 minutes–1 hour
Difficulty: Beginner-friendly

Location: Joaquin Miller Park, Oakland
Meet: 5:45 PM
Trail Start: 6:00 PM
🅿️ Parking: There is a parking lot near the ranger station off Sanborn Drive, directly across from the trail starting point. Additional roadside/pull-off parking is available nearby. Please give yourself enough time to park and meet the group before 6:00 PM.
🛝 Kids: While children are welcome, I don’t recommend this hike for small children due to narrow stretches of trail and frequent bike traffic.
🐕 Dogs: Dogs are welcome but must remain on leash and under control throughout the hike.
Expect shaded woodland, oak forest and a relaxed social pace. Bring water, hiking shoes and a light layer as temperatures can cool down quickly in the evening.
Solo Explorers are always welcome. You don’t need to know anyone before you come. That’s kind of the point. 🤎
