🍻 Welcome to the September meeting of Banned Books and Beer hosted by JCDP and the YDJC!📚 If you like to read, drink beer, or both, then this Banned Book Club is for you! Each month, the group will decide on a banned book to read and get together at a local brewery downtown to discuss the book, discuss life, or just have a good time. There is no pressure (fellow neurodivergent friends, we're talking to you!).
📅 Our September meeting will be held September 24th at 6pm - 7:30pm EST -- at Inno Station in Dillsboro!
📖 September's book, selected by popular vote, will be "Demon Copperhead" by Barbara Kingsolver. Widely challenged, this book is a contemporary retelling of Charles Dickens' David Copperfield, set in modern-day Appalachia, exploring the devastating effects of the opioid crisis and systemic neglect as the protagonist navigates a life of poverty, foster care, and addiction, highlighting themes of survival, community, and the complex social issues of the region.
