Rock Island Public Library and Midwest Writing Center present our annual Banned Books Week Read-out with community voices. October 4–10, 2026. “Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.”
Social time is from 5:30 pm to 6 pm, with readings from 6 pm to 7:45 pm.
Volunteer readers may contact Ryan Collins, Midwest Writing Center, at (309) 732-7330, [email protected], to sign up for a 5-minute time slot. Volunteers will read short excerpts from their favorite banned and/or contested books/plays/poems / etc.
While we support your freedom to read what you want, please note that readings may contain mature content.
