Stories of Rock Island: Youth Poetry Reading and Panel Discussion

Join us as our Students from Rock Island High School will take the stage at Augustana College’s Symposium Day to share original poetry from Stories of Rock Island — an anthology created through a collaboration between the school’s AVID Program and Young Lions Roar.
Following the performances, Dr. Allie Baringer and President of Rocky Lions Publishing Aubrey Barnes will engage our student poets for a conversation about storytelling, poetry, identity, and the power of young people sharing their own experiences.
We’re excited to bring these stories to Augustana and continue the conversation about how storytelling can create connection, healing, and belonging in Rock Island. 🦁📖
