Cissbury Ring is one of the most important archaeological sites in Britain, with a palimpsest of human activity stretching back six thousand years. This lecture will look at the Neolithic flint mining, the Iron Age hill fort, Roman occupation and beyond to the present day. We will also discuss the archaeologists who uncovered the hidden history of Cissbury, from Pitt-Rivers to local man John Pull.
A full programme of eight talks delivered by our curator, James Sainsbury, including four brand new lectures. These talks cover everything from the Prehistoric archaeology of Worthing and the wider area, to the dawn of photography and the development of the town in the 19th and 20th centuries.
