April is National Car Care Month and the experts at AutoNation are urging drivers to take a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, a move that can improve safety, boost fuel efficiency and reduce long-term repair costs.
As young adults prepare for the final stretch of the school year and the arrival of summer, AutoNation is inviting them, and their parents, to attend the free AutoNation Car Care Clinics. Led by technicians and safety experts, these hands-on sessions teach young drivers practical skills to keep their vehicles safe and reliable all summer long. The program is part of AutoNation’s year-round commitment to educating the community about car care and driver safety through seasonal initiatives such as its recent back-to-school and winter car care clinics.
As warmer temperatures can affect several components in vehicles (e.g., tire pressure, battery life, fluids, etc.), some recommendations from AutoNation’s experts and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration include checking tire pressure every month and inspecting tread depth before long road trips for enhanced safety and improved fuel efficiency; testing batteries around the 3–5-year mark; replacing worn wiper blades and confirming that headlights function properly for clean visibility, and more.
Complimentary AutoNation Car Care Clinics teach practical skills—from checking tire pressure and topping off fluids to jumpstarting a battery and handling roadside emergencies—while underscoring the importance of regular maintenance to promote safety and prevent costly repairs. Clinics also include driver safety education from local community partners on topics such as distracted and impaired driving, proper seating and seatbelt use, and what to do if pulled over or asked to perform a field sobriety test.
All participants will receive a mini car care kit with essential items for the road. Parents or guardians must attend with their teens, and everyone is required to register in advance. Seats are limited. For more information and to register, visit https://tinyurl.com/47y93h5f.
