About this Event
Are they remarkable birds admired for their bravery and uniqueness, or an evil invasion wreaking havoc in gardens and destroying our backyards?
Not many Australian birds are as controversial as brush-turkeys. Sick and tired garden owners who find them no good, obnoxious, or a catastrophe stand against those who view them as uplifting and full of jaw-dropping surprises.
Join brush-turkey expert Dr. Ann Göth to learn all about the human-wildlife conflict, how to co-exist with and encourage or deter these feathered friends while celebrating the uniqueness of an iconic Australian bird.
At the conclusion of the workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a copy of Ann’s new book Amazing Annoying Birds: Living with Australian Brush-turkeys.
This workshop is presented in collaboration with the Georges River Council Environment Team.
About Dr. Ann Göth
Dr. Ann Göth is an ecologist, science teacher, public speaker and passionate writer. She is the author of two books on Australian brush-turkeys, one for adults (Amazing Annoying Birds) and one for kids (Bush-turkey Needs a Friend). Ann’s writing reflects a strong passion to bring natural history and conservation issues closer to non-scientists and scientists alike. She also uses slide shows all over the city to convince Sydneysiders that Australian brush-turkeys are fascinating and worth watching, even if they dig up people’s gardens in the process of building their mounds.
