Presenters:

Judi Johnson (Grief in the Workplace Educator)

With a background in corporate risk management and many years working alongside high-risk roles and industries, Judi understands that workplace safety is about far more than physical hazards. She now specialises in helping organisation recognise and respond to grief, being one of the most overlooked risks affecting safety, wellbeing, and performance.

Drawing on both professional training and lived experience, Judi helps leaders understand how grief can affect concentration, decisions, memory, communication, and situational awareness, and equips teams with practical strategies to support grieving employees while maintaining a safer, more compassionate workplace. Judi works with organisations across all industries, delivering engaging presentations, workshops, and crisis support, which reduces stigma and encourages psychologically safe conversations around grief.


Pete Pearson (Safety Advisor, Site Safe)

Pete worked as a lift truck engineer for 22 years. He was then employed as a process operator in manufacturing before transferring to the company’s training department. Over the years Pete has acquired 20 years of training experience in manufacturing, logistics, health and safety, and construction.


Neil Palmer (Service & Training Manager, Bosch)

Neil Palmer is the Service and Training Manager for Bosch, New Zealand. He brings over 15 years of dedicated service to the company, with more than 35 years of industry experience spanning over construction and hardware sectors. Neil’s expertise is deeply rooted in tool technology and particularly in grinder safety. His professional passion centres on advancing education and integrating technology to enhance trade practices. Through his leadership Neil continues to drive innovation and safety standards reinforcing Bosch’s commitment to excellence in the New Zealand market.


Chris Jobson (Northern Regional Manager, Site Safe)

Chris is responsible for delivering products, services, and member engagement throughout Site Safe's Northern Region which extends from Taupo to Northland, including the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne regions. Chris is also the product owner of Site Safe's audit and assurance service, SiteRight. Chris began his career as an engineer and has held operational, commercial and senior managerial roles over 35 years across several high-risk industry sectors including gas distribution and transmission, electricity supply, and water and wastewater services. Chris understands how to manage risk effectively from his experience managing the risks associated with operational activities, and construction projects while employed in these high-risk industry sectors. He is committed to making a difference in the quality of lives of those employed in the construction and civil sectors and other sectors who recognise the benefit of the products and services Site Safe provides.


Jason John (Manager of the General Inspectorate, WorkSafe)

As the Manager of the General Inspectorate at WorkSafe New Zealand, Jason brings a wealth of experience built over many years across a diverse range of areas, including engineering, leading and managing inspector teams, planning and analysing safety interventions to enhance productivity, contributing to regional management and coordination efforts, supporting team development and driving positive behavioural change, and ngaging with iwi/Māori in alignment with the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. This role plays a vital part in strengthening the effectiveness of the General Inspectorate and advancing workplace health and safety standards.
