AU Community Garden Prep for Neighbors

On Saturday, March 22, we're inviting neighbors to officially join the AU community garden program with a Spring prep session specifically designed for home gardens. Get tips, techniques, and tutorials that you can use to make homemade fertilizer, construct insect hotels, harvest seeds from flower heads, and try your hand at composting. Your host for the prep session will be the community garden's lead student-manager, Kylie Bill (Sr. Environmental Science major) and the AU Community Relations office will be on hand with refreshments and other special treats for the day.
After the prep session, you're welcome to stick around and tend to the community garden with the rest of the working group from 12pm-2pm. Every participant can enjoy a complimentary seed packet and their choice of some of the fresh produce that the garden yields.

Spring Garden Prep 2025 is an introductory event intended to welcome neighbors into the community garden program at AU. This student/faculty-led group of meets every Saturday at 12 noon to manage AU's on-campus garden and seed library. Our hope is that neighbors feel welcome and become regulars in this space. Whether you're a pro or a novice, we welcome all community members with an interest in urban gardening and cultivating a shared space for this peaceful communal practice.
Parking is free on weekends at Katzen Arts Center. Signage will direct you to the Community Garden once you arrive. Tools and materials will be provided. Gardening attire is reccomended.
