Star Power: Saturday Movie Matinee

Join the Portrait Gallery for two matinees in connection with the museum’s exhibition “Star Power: Photographs from Old Hollywood’s Golden Age by George Hurrell.” The series will bring back Hollywood’s most endearing and iconic films, featuring stars who drove box-office sales when major studios and production companies began making groundbreaking movies.

Enjoy the glamour of the golden era and watch some of Hollywood’s favorite stars.

Saturday, March 22, Women’s History Month feature: “The Women” (running time: 2 hours, 13 min.) Featuring Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford and Rosalind Russell and directed by George Cukor, “The Women” follows the lives of three interconnected characters and their romantic entanglements.

Saturday, April 19: “It Happened One Night” (running time: 1 hour, 45 min.) An Academy Award–winning romantic comedy featuring Clarke Gable, Claudette Colbert and Walter Connolly and directed by Frank Capra, this classic road movie follows a rogue reporter who trails a runaway heiress to get a big story.
