ASCENDtials Kemetic YOGA Sundays at the WorldBeat Cultural Center

Kemetic Yoga is an ancient African Yoga art form that promotes African philosophy and practices that originated from the land of Kemet. This ancient Yoga art form emphasizes the rejuvenation of the body and mind as it attempts to provide BIPOC communities with cultural roots that stem from its antique African origins.-Y.R.H.

Our goal is to encourage participants to explore KOS-Melanin-ology™ for a stronger KNOWLEDGE OF SELF as a form of self-healing so that we may transform structures that prevent change. Many factors contribute to keeping structures in place. Our health, habits, and conditioning contribute to improper thinking and lack of awareness, but our ancestors designed a system that aids in understanding our body, mind, and breath through practice. We aim to get “straight” by embracing Ancient thoughts from our ancestors that we may become more aware of ourselves internally and externally in the detection of obstacles to our development. This program will also help to support our growing organization and mission.

Our instructor is Mika, who has been practicing yoga for over 25 years, but has recently sought Kemetic yoga as a means to connect with the ancestors as she has become more intentional and focused on increasing breath and decreasing blockages to remain in alignment and reach the next levels.

Practice takes place on the lawn, on the side of the WorldBeat building. Please bring your mat, water, and towels. Experience healing on the spot with our Crew!
