ARTIST2ARTIST: Grant Writing Workshop

This workshop is designed to help artists at all levels feel more confident navigating grants and funding opportunities. We’ll cover what’s out there, how to find the right fit for your practice, and what funders are looking for. Through practical tips and discussion, you’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how to approach applications and take the next step with confidence.

Workshops are recommended for people ages 12 and over. Children under 12 years old are welcome with parent/guardian supervision. Please get a ticket for each person (incl. all children).

The workshop is admission by donation! Suggested $20 - $30 to support facilitator fees and supplies.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Dennis Lee is a Calgary-based grant writer, photographer, and community arts organizer. He’s the Co-founder of Alcove Centre for the Arts and founder of Alcove Photo Club, where he focuses on creating accessible, community-driven opportunities for artists. Over the past few years, he’s helped secure over $1 million in funding for arts and community projects, while also supporting his own creative practice through grants. He’s passionate about making grant writing feel more approachable and practical, and regularly shares what he’s learned through workshops with artists and nonprofits.

Alcove Centre for the Arts (alcoveartscentre.ca) is a non-profit organization based in Calgary, AB which aims to make art more accessible and promote a vibrant local arts industry. We curate and cultivate community art spaces for Calgarians to engage in art and creativity while building a platform for emerging local artists.

Alcove is a Recreational Art Space open to the public providing free art supplies and instruments to stimulate creativity. The space also acts as a gathering place for workshops, community events, and social meetups. Come visit and get creative!
