Join renowned artist and jewellery maker Julie Blyfield for an insight into her exhibition JamFactory ICON: Julie Blyfield, Chasing a Passion, which features intricately crafted jewellery and sculptural objects inspired by her visit to the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

About Julie Blyfield
Julie’s work draws on the organic forms of botanical specimens and uses traditional metalsmithing techniques of chasing and repoussé to creates intricately textured works that reflect the beauty of the Australian landscape.
Blyfield studied jewellery making and silversmithing at the South Australian College of the Arts and Education and has since built an acclaimed career encompassing artistic practice, teaching and mentoring. Her work is exhibited internationally and held in major collections, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and public collections across Australia.
JamFactory ICON: Julie Blyfield, Chasing a Passion presents a new collection of meticulously crafted works, inspired by Blyfield’s experience of visiting the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef in Far North Queensland. As designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites, both of these natural environments are celebrated for their rich biodiversity, exceptional beauty and universal value to humanity. Influenced by her lived experiences of these sites, Blyfield also reflected on the coral specimens stored at the South Australian Museum to inform her making process.
