This event is free and open to all. Join us for a special afternoon as we delve deeper into these two artists' work!

Lovisa Axén (b. 1996, Götlunda) is an artist based in Malmö, Sweden. Working primarily with textiles, she explores the fragility of memory—how it blurs, fractures, and reshapes over time. Through pixelation and subtle distortions, her works evoke the spaces between clarity and loss, where what is absent becomes as present as what remains.
In her practice, everyday materials like shirt buttons are transformed into carriers of intimacy and recognition, inviting viewers into a quiet, searching encounter. Without demanding technical decoding, her pieces offer instead an emotional resonance—fragments that ask to be pieced together, but never fully resolved.

Carter Shocket (b. 1995, North Carolina, USA) is a trans and queer interdisciplinary artist from North Carolina living and working in Brooklyn, New York. His work includes woven sculpture, installation, street art, tapestry, and other process-based textile art.
Shocket's work explores the supernatural reality that transness evokes. He's interested in how transness breaks what we think of as fixed, and what forms in the opening of those breaks. His current work explores trans time travel, communal care, and connection to community past and present.
