Join us for a closing conversation with artists from Memory Is A Verb: Exploring Time and Transience, moderated by Karen Haas, Lane Senior Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Rather than a formal presentation, this will be an open, wide-ranging discussion rooted in genuine dialogue. Karen will pose questions to the group, and artists will respond as the conversation moves them — following threads, circling back, and letting the discussion find its own shape. Audience questions will be encouraged and central to the evening. Expect candid, unscripted exchanges that is allowed once creative work has had time to breathe, and artists have had time to sit with it.
The exhibition brings together ten women whose photographs explore loss, memory, mortality, and the slippery nature of time. Their work asks what it means to hold onto the past while standing in an ever-shifting present — and how photography, itself a medium caught between moment and memory, becomes a tool for that reckoning. This closing panel is an opportunity to hear directly from the artists about their process, their intentions, and what the work has revealed to them — and to each other — over the course of the show. More information about the exhibit can be found here.
Whether you’ve spent time with the exhibition or are encountering it for the first time, this conversation offers a way in — a chance to ask questions, listen closely, and leave with a deeper understanding of what brought these artists together and what continues to connect them.
