Workshop: Exploring Your Inner Landscapes
About this Event
In connection with the exhibition Formas Feroces y Tiernas Juanita Lanzo leads a hands-on workshop in which participants create mixed-media contour drawings using charcoal, watercolor, and mixed media, emphasizing experimentation and discovery. Participants will be encouraged to loosen ingrained ways of seeing and creating, allowing unexpected images, insights, and forms to emerge.
This workshop is designed for artists of all levels and no prior artistic experience is necessary. All that is required is a willingness to explore, play, and trust the creative process.
Juanita Lanzo is an Afro-Puerto Rican visual artist, educator, art consultant, and independent curator based in East Harlem and The Bronx. Her biomorphic imagery alludes to life cycles and reflects on body politics, gender identity, desire, racism, memory, the Caribbean and African diasporic identity, and post-colonialism.
Lanzo graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a BFA in printmaking and drawing and from City College of New York with an MFA in printmaking and drawing/painting.
Generous support for Formas Feroces y Tiernas and related events is provided by The Onda Foundation.
