Learn how to create your own fabric pocket journal with Vicki Aimers!Join book artist, Vicki Aimers, on Saturday 25 January for this special workshop celebrating the amazing journals of John James Morris – a farmer and market gardener from Lanivet near Bodmin.
John recorded every day life in the area he called home with his beloved wife Florrie, along with his love of travelling by bus and train, the theatre and visiting tea shops!
At this workshop, you’ll create a fabric journal that can be filled with the collected ephemera of your travels, stories and memories. You’ll learn how to collage with an old Singer sewing machine, and an easy and effective way to print onto fabric and paper by hand. Plus, learn more about John’s beautiful collection of handwritten diaries.
Techniques covered include: basic printing, journaling, making small pamphlet books, using an old Singer sewing machine.
The workshop costs £18.
Tea, coffee and lunch are not provided – the Arch Cafe at Kresen Kernow will be open, or you can bring a packed lunch.
Call 01872 324333 to book your space now (during Kresen Kernow opening hours).
A basic starter kit will be available for each participant, but please see our website for suggested materials to bring with you should you wish.
