Blob Birds: Becoming Familiar with Watercolor(suggested ages: 7-13)
Watercolor paints are one of the most eco-friendly, easy-cleanup, and inexpensive painting mediums. Perfect for kids! This class will introduce students to the techniques used to control watercolor paint, mix colors, and create textures and designs unique to watercolor. We will use this exploration to make fantastic and funny imaginary birds.
Why an "art lab?"
These classes will have an emphasis on the creative process, skill development, and experimentation rather than perfect finished products. It will be a space for exploration of techniques, and combining arts with science, geography, culture, and history.
Who is Jamie Umana?
Jamie is an artist, writer, and local museum instructor specializing primarily in watercolor painting. Jamie is passionate about the therapeutic and meditative benefits of art making, and expressing ourselves creatively. Jamie is a registered volunteer at the Moses Lake School District where she has helped hundreds of students make clay projects.
