Whether you’re growing food for your family, your community, or your market stand, this year’s symposium will offer practical, research-based guidance you can use right away.

What to expect:

  1. Proven strategies for productive vegetable gardens
  2. Tips for soil health, pests, and disease management
  3. Sessions designed for both home gardeners and small-scale growers

Registration

Info: All pre-registered attendees must stop by the registration table before attending any event sessions. At that time, you will be given a take-home packet with useful vegetable gardening tips and your ticket for the raffle at the end of the symposium. You will place your raffle ticket in a bucket for one of the three baskets to be raffled off.

Vendor Alley

Info: Grant/Adams Master Gardeners will be offering geranium and possibly drought tolerant plant starts as well as hosting a plant clinic where you can ask specific questions about plants, lawns, pests, diseases, etc. Other vendors will be on hand to inform you about soil testing, composting, noxious weeds, bees and pollinators, water conservation, and many more gardening topics.

Early Bird Breakout Session

Info: Attendees will have the opportunity to choose one of the following topics: Bees, Irrigation, or Container Vegetable Gardening.

Opening Keynote Speaker: Issac Lnenicka

Info: Isaac will be speaking on Growing Great Vegetables in Grant/Adams Counties.


🕑: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Breakout Session #2

Info: Attendees will have the opportunity to choose one of the following topics: Bugs/Pests, Composting, or Herbs/Native Herbs.


🕑: 11:15 AM - 11:45 AM
Breakout Session #3

Info: Attendees will have the opportunity to choose one of the following topics: Winterizing the Garden, Funding Opportunity for the Small Farmer, or Preserving Home Grown Food.


🕑: 12:00 PM - 12:30 PM
Panel Discussion: The Good the Bad and the Ugly of Vegetable Gardening

Info: Local Master Gardeners will share their successes and failures with growing vegetables to give the attendees bits of wisdom to avoid the same pitfalls and to achieve the same success in growing abundant, nourishing, and flavorful vegetables in their own gardens.

Closing Keynote Speaker: Judy Conlow

Info: Judy will be speaking on pollination in a presentation titled "Lemurs and Wolves". She is a vivacious speaker who will keep you laughing while you learn.
