Benita Vivian is a Cornwall-based artist working primarily in acrylic and mixed media. She is best known for her aerial-view paintings, which explore coastal scenes from above. Her work focuses on beaches, swimmers, and paddleboarders, with backgrounds that emphasise the mood, movement, and energy of each scene.
Drawn from memories of growing up in Cornwall and coastal experience, Benita’s work captures summer moments through texture and colour. Within her aerial-view perspective, she explores a variety of styles, from simplified abstracted backgrounds with more realistic figures to textured beach scenes that verge on realism, all inspired by her time on the coast.
Using layered surfaces and texture paste, she allows the sea and shoreline to feel active and alive. Colour plays an important role in her work, most often centred around deep warm greens and blues, while occasionally introducing unexpected accents.
