Join CPRE North & East Yorkshire at the historic Friargate Quaker Meeting House in York for our annual Autumn Countryside Gathering!
2026 marks CPRE’s Centenary Year - a century of protecting, regenerating, and celebrating the English countryside. From our nationwide On the Edge campaign protecting urban fringe landscapes, to our award-winning Chelsea Flower Show garden, 2026 is a landmark year.
Whether you are a lifelong rural campaigner, a passionate walker, or simply love Yorkshire’s landscapes, join us on Saturday 19th September to celebrate this milestone, hear about our local work, and connect with fellow countryside lovers.
Highlights of the event:
- Special Guest Speaker - Dr Rosie Page: We are delighted to welcome Dr Rosie Page, daughter of legendary vet and author Alf Wight (better known by his pen name, James Herriot of All Creatures Great and Small fame). A passionate Yorkshire-phile, Rosie will entertain us with delightful anecdotes about growing up with the man whose books introduced the magic of the Yorkshire Dales to millions around the world.
- Protecting North & East Yorkshire: Hear directly from our team about our regional work defending green spaces, influencing local planning policy, and shaping our priorities for the future.
