Bill then came ashore and became a fish buyer for the prestigious Foley Fish Company at the Portland Fish Exchange, the first all-display fish auction in the United States.
Following a commitment to sustainability, Bill served on the Groundfish Advisory Panel to the New England Fisheries Management Council, and on the NOAA Office of Sustainable Fisheries’ Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel. Bill has also served on the NMFS Research Steering Committee and the Trawl Advisory Panel.
He is currently retired and in addition to writing he works part-time at an oyster farm and as a seafood consultant.
