About this Event
We Roar is an extraordinary exhibition of artwork and poetry by 40 people imprisoned in England and the USA. You’ll see artworks and creative writing from people new to art and poetry alongside some exceptionally talented and experienced creatives. Devised by artist Faye Claridge, in partnership with Novus (UK Pr*son education provider) and the Pr*son Creative Arts Project (University of Michigan), the project is testimony to the many mental health, relationship and skills benefits of creative engagement.Throughout 2024, We Roar toured prisons in England and was exhibited in the USA. In response to an overwhelmingly positive response and growing public demand, Arts Council England is now supporting an extended tour in public libraries through 2025-26.
In recognition of its innovation and positive social impact, We Roar won the national Criminal Justice Alliance Creative Media Award 2025.
Liverpool Central Library are delighted to host the exhibition and thank Faye for providing this talk which will highlight the criminal and social justice impact of the project.
