Moderator: Lee Hill is Executive Editor for GBH News, where he oversees editorial content and strategy across platforms for the growing newsroom. Prior to GBH, Lee held a number of leadership at WNYC/New York Public Radio, most recently as Executive Producer of the award winning daily national news program, "The Takeaway."
Panel:
Michael McDermott has been executive editor of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette since 2022. He previously worked at The Providence Journal for nearly 20 years, including as managing editor and sports editor. He is a graduate of Northeastern University.
Jina Ortiz is a multidisciplinary writer living in Worcester. Her debut poetry collection, "Miss Universe" (Broadstone Press, 2025) is a series of persona poems in the voices of the Afro-descendants pageant contestants from around the world. She is co-editor of the anthology, "All About Skin: Short Fiction by Women of Color" (University of Wisconsin Press, 2014).
Kristen B. Payson is editor of The Landmark, the weekly newspaper serving the Wachusett towns of Holden, Paxton, Princeton Rutland and Sterling. She holds a degree in professional and technical writing from Elizabethtown College, and has worked in community journalism for more than 28 years.
Hank Stolz has been waking up Worcester and Central Mass for more than 25 year, most recently on the "Talk of the Commonwealth" morning show heard locally on AM 830 WCRN and always streaming at radioworcester.com. He lives in Worcester with his wife and youngest of his three daughters. He is happy to come to your car after the panel and personally tune your radio for you so you never miss a broadcast.
