Join us for a hands-on workshop exploring Austrian-style scything - an ancient, peaceful, and eco-friendly way to manage grass and meadows. Far gentler than machines, the scythe allows for selective cutting, leaving space for wildflowers and wildlife to thrive, while giving you the bonus of usable hay and cuttings.
Guided by tutor Raphaelle Martin, you’ll get both the background and plenty of practice in the CECAS orchard. Together, we’ll cover:
+Setting up and maintaining your scythe
+ Keeping blades sharp with whetstones
+Mowing techniques for confidence and ease
+ Meadow, haymaking & W**d management
+ Intro to peening (blade sharpening)
Your ticket includes:
6 hours of small-group learning
Use of a scythe for the day (or bring your own for extra tips!)
