About the Artist
Born in Rajshahi, Alamgir Parvez Sumon began learning music from his grandmother, Momena Khatun, before receiving formal training from Ustad Sheikh Badiuzzaman and Ustad Kazi Sultan Mahmud. He later studied dhrupad and khayal under Professor Asit Roy and received specialised training in the Agra gharana from Pandit Rajesh Kelkar.
As a child artist, he was a multiple-award recipient. He was also selected by the Government of Bangladesh as a junior ambassador to attend a children’s conference in Fukuoka, Japan. As an ICCR scholar, he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India.
He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Music at the University of Rajshahi.
