Welcome again poets, scribes, truthseekers and warriors of wit, lyricists and pathological liars to Alternator Poetrys mic open for the recited word! A night of sharing thoughts and feelings in the formless to formful art of poetry in a warm and welcoming space that encourages all original works. This months Alternator will feature the work of Coral Carter performed by she herself, live and in the flesh.
Coral Carter lives in Perth but grew up in Kalgoorlie and Port Augusta and spent many years
living and working in outback communities of Western and South Australia. She was a guest
in the Queensland Poetry Festival 2013, the inaugural writer in residence for the Northern
Territory Writers Centre 2013 and a guest at Perth Poetry Festival 2014. Her poem Summer
Sky Blues was featured on the Perth Cultural Centre screen as a media exhibition in
2015.Coral was shortlisted in the Newcastle poetry prize 2022 and won the Looking
Forward/Looking Back ekphrastic poetry prize 2023. She was longlisted in the University of
Canberra Vice Chancellors International Poetry prize 2023. She has been a guest at the Perth
Poetry Club and reads there most weeks. She has published two books Descended from
Thieves Mulla Mulla Press 2012 and Backyard Listening Mulla Mulla Press 2019.
Certainly a poet not to be missed.
