Join Alive & Running Iowa for a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Suicide Prevention Training designed to help participants identify and respond to someone experiencing suicidal thoughts. QPR—like CPR—is an emergency response to someone in crisis and is the most widely taught gatekeeper training in the world.
This FREE training is intended for nurses, providers, EMS personnel, and community members who want to learn how to recognize warning signs and take action.
Led by Ryan Nesbit, co-founder of Alive & Running Iowa and a certified QPR trainer, the 1.5–2 hour session will cover how to ask the suicide Question, Persuade someone to get help, and Refer them to appropriate resources. Participants will also receive a QPR booklet to take home. The training includes discussion of statistics, warning signs, and Ryan’s personal experiences with suicide loss and past suicidal ideation.
Nursing CE is approved for 1.5 Contact Hours through Grundy County Memorial Hospital.
Pre-registration is available in NetLearning for GCMH Associates. Registration is requested to ensure materials are available. To learn more and register, visit: https://grundycounty.unitypoint.org/calendar/events/qpr/
