The Importance of Blood Donation: "Every two seconds someone in the world needs blood. Just one donation can save up to three lives."

General Requirements

• The donor should be between 18 and 65 years old.
• The donor should be in good health and not suffering from any major illness.
• Donors should not have had an infection fever or certain vaccinations in the weeks leading up to the donation.
• Donors should avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before donating.
• Donors should wait 6 months after getting a tattoo or piercing due to the risk of infection.
• Donors should wait for 6 months after major surgery.
• Women can donate during their menstrual period if they feel well.
• Women should not donate during pregnancy and should wait 6 months after childbirth or until they have stopped breastfeeding.
• Men can donate every 3 months while women can donate every 4 months.
