Age UK Volunteering @ Stones End Day Centre

Join us at Stone's End, a day centre speciliasing in supporting older adults living with dementia and Alzheimers in Lewisham and Southwark. With their varied programme of activites, Stones End endeavours to help their members remain healthy and independent for as long as possible. They work closely with families, care services, partner organisations and professionals to provided an integrated and well rounded service. Though they are connected the the wider Age UK charity, the day centre relies mostly on fundraising to run their services.

Volunteers are crucial to member experience. They provide thoughtful converstaion, and support with carefully planned, stimulating activities. Just a few hours of your time offers members connection and compassion, interactions that have been linked with slowing the progress of demetia. It is a deeply rewarding way to spend your time.

On the day, volunteers are supported by staff at the Stone's End , regular volunteers, and a staff member from HandsOn London. Volunteers will have an hour break for lunch. Lunch is not provided by the centre, so please bring a packed lunch or feel free to go to one of the many local cafes, or Mercato food market. Otherwise, all materials for the day will be provided.
