Afterschool Teen Art Classes (11–16 years) | Tuesdays | 5:15 pm - 6:45 pm

These 1.5-hour sessions focus on exploratory, process-based art across painting, drawing, and mixed media.

The program encourages confidence, creativity, and individual expression, while supporting students in developing a more personal and thoughtful approach to art-making. The emphasis is on experimentation, reflection, and building a visual language rather than achieving a fixed outcome.

Each class centres around a main activity or concept, such as working with emotion through colour and gesture, visual storytelling, or playful material exploration. Students are guided to develop their ideas and take creative risks in a supportive environment.

All materials are provided.

About the tutor

Rebecca Austin is a local artist with a Bachelor of Fine Art from Griffith University, where she majored in printmaking and drawing.

Alongside her art practice, Rebecca works as an early childhood educator and brings a thoughtful, supportive approach to teaching. She is passionate about helping both children and adults develop creative skills and confidence.

Rebecca believes that everyone can be creative and encourages each student to reconnect with their sense of play and curiosity through art.
