About this Event

After the road, it's time to restore.

Whether you've spent the weekend dancing, celebrating, connecting with community, or simply taking in the energy of Carnival, After de Road: HEAL•IN Restorative Flow offers a space to slow down, reset, and reconnect with yourself.

Led by Demiyah of Angelito, this all-levels yoga experience combines gentle movement, guided breathwork, sound, and moments of intentional stillness to support recovery in both body and mind. Together, we'll release tension, regulate the nervous system, and create space for rest after a season of movement and celebration.

Rooted in the belief that caring for ourselves is a collective practice, this session invites participants to move at their own pace while exploring the balance between effort and ease. Through grounding postures, mindful transitions, and restorative techniques, we'll nurture resilience, presence, and embodied well-being.

Join us for an afternoon of restoration, reflection, and renewal as we honour the body, replenish our energy, and carry the spirit of Carnival forward with intention.

No previous yoga experience is required. All levels are welcome.

Meet the Facilitator: Demiyah

Demíyah Perez is a multidisciplinary artist, conscious movement teacher, and sonic storyteller based between Toronto and New York. Working across movement, sound, and community-building, her practice explores the intersections of embodiment, identity, liberation, and collective transformation. She is the founder of the Angelito Collective—a Black Trans-Led Multimedia Creative & Talent Group rooted in radical visibility, cultural innovation, and the ongoing pursuit of liberation through art.

With a background spanning yoga, conscious movement and experimental sound, Demiyah creates immersive experiences that invite audiences and participants into deeper relationships with themselves, one another, and the worlds they imagine possible. Rooted in ancestral memory while reaching toward speculative futures, her practice dissolves binaries and embraces multiplicity, allowing identity and expression to remain fluid, evolving, and deeply embodied.

Her work is an invitation to inhabit contradiction, to move with intention, and to embrace transformation through creative expression. Guided by an ethos of collective care, radical imagination, and embodied resistance, Demiyah's practice inspires revolt—not only against systems of violence and erasure, but toward an ecstatic vision of what it means to be fully alive, deeply connected, and unapologetically free.
