About this Event

Adapting for Strategic Competition
Innovation, Adaptation, and the Changing Nature of Conflict With Gen. David H. Berger

Join JMC on Sept. 17, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., for an engaging presentation and discussion with Retired Gen. David H. Berger, who led one of the most significant modernization efforts in Marine Corps history to face emerging threats and who has remained a proponent of adaptation and innovation in U.S. defense. Gen. Berger, 38th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps, has served around the globe in times of peace and war. From Iraq to Haiti, and from Kosovo to Afghanistan, he has experienced the changing character of conflict.

Drawing on his decades of leadership experience at the highest levels of the U.S. military, Gen. Berger will explore the evolving global security environment and the strategic challenges facing the United States. The discussion will examine military modernization and the difficult choices leaders must make to prepare institutions for an increasingly complex and uncertain world.

Event is co-sponsored by James Madison College and the Office of Research and Innovation’s National Security Initiative.
