Acrylic Path | 7-Session Painting Course
About this Event
Join us for seven weeks of painting, experimentation and developing confidence with acrylics. Each week introduces a fresh, popular subject and a complete new skill, from reading light and shadow to painting fur and faces. The lessons connect and build, rising gently in challenge as we go, yet every session stands on its own.
Course Program:
3 September | Black & White Still Life
Explore the foundations of realism through shape, volume, tonal values, light and shadow, working with a simple monochrome still life.
10 September | Candlelight Still Life
Learn to work with warm light and cool shadows, mixing values and tints without using black or white, and creating an oil-like effect with acrylics.
17 September | Loose Abstract Flowers
Paint expressive flowers from imagination while exploring colour, warm and cool contrasts, loose brushwork and the basics of composition.
24 September | Big Skies
Create a simple sunset landscape while learning layering, underpainting and how to build depth through foreground, middle ground and background.
1 October | Landscape Deconstruction
Explore composition and perspective while simplifying a landscape, mixing colours and finding more expressive colour solutions.
8 October | Painting Fur: Cat or Dog
Learn practical techniques for painting fur using dry brush and freehand strokes. Work from a provided reference or bring a photo of your own pet.
15 October | Portrait
Explore facial proportions, light and expression while learning soft and hard edges, sfumato, dry brush and palette knife techniques.
Suitable for beginners and those looking to develop their acrylic painting skills through a variety of subjects and techniques.
All materials are provided, including canvas, paints and brushes.
Complimentary tea and coffee are available during each session.
