About this course
The course has been created to show you how gestural brush-strokes and mark-making gives the impression of spontaneity in your compositions. You will benefit from this course as your style of painting will become looser, full of energy and colour. Experiment the pure joy of mark-making by playing with colour and texture using non-traditional tools.
Your will be guided step-by-step in order to build your skills and confidence, focusing on subjects like colour mixing, painting techniques and understanding the impressionistic style of painting:
- Abstract style of painting research
- Colour mixing and composition studies
- Surface preparation and sketching
- Painting techniques: layering and glazing
- Complete a painting in the abstract style
- Protect your painting by varnishing it
By the end of the course learners will complete at least one work on canvas. They will have fun by experimenting with the palette knife and become more confident in using acrylics.
You will need
- Acrylic paper/sketch pad
- A4 canvas

- Red (Alizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red
- Yellow (Lemon and Cadmiun Yellow)
- Blue (Ultramarine, and Cerulean)
- Magenta , Turquoise, Titanium white
The art materials are to be discussed during the first session of the course when the tutor will cover the topic.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
