Leslie Kaminoff is a yoga educator inspired by the tradition of T.K.V. Desikachar. He is an internationally recognized specialist with four decades’ experience in the fields of yoga and breath anatomy. He leads workshops for many of the leading yoga associations, schools and training programs in the world.This November, join his 3-day workshop exploring structural diversity, non-linear asana, and building poses from the ground up.
Friday kicks off with: Non-Linear Asana Flow – Escaping the Tyranny of the Rectangle:
The basic geometries of classic asana are a great starting point for practicing the physical aspect of yoga, just as learning scales is a necessary foundation for playing music on a piano. This is a workshop that will encourage us to tune into the music of our bodies. By connecting with the spirals, fluids and asymmetries inherent in our organic forms, we will practice in a way that seeks more joy and balance. When we honor the complementary forces of order and chaos, inquiry and technique, form and function, the physical practice becomes a living, breathing expression of the deeper truths of Yoga.
This workshop is open to all students, of every level. You will be led through simple, breath-centered movements and poses, as well as being encouraged to improvise freely in a series of non-structured inquiries. Time will be allotted to individual questions and modifications.
