A Time to Yell: More Than A Statue

Join us for a special screening of A Time to Yell: More Than a Statue, the Emmy Award-winning documentary that tells the story behind the fight to remove the statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The film explores the historic events that led up to and culminated in the 2017 “Unite the Right” rally, told through the perspective of the Charlottesville community and Dr. Wes Bellamy, a former Charlottesville City Council member whose leadership helped bring national attention to the movement. More than a film about a statue, A Time to Yell is a powerful examination of public memory, racial justice, civic courage, and what it means for communities to confront the truth of their history.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion featuring respected voices in social justice, public leadership, and community advocacy. The conversation will explore the themes raised in the film, including the legacy of Confederate monuments, the role of local organizing, the impact of racial violence, and the ongoing responsibility to build more honest and just communities.
