What does it mean to be a respectable woman?A lecture.
A history.
A performance.
And then… something else entirely.
Join me and my exceptionally talented friends for a sharp, darkly funny and unapologetically bold cabaret piece that unpicks the idea of respectability across time as we journey from Victorian 'hysteria' to the perfect 1950s housewife, right through to the expectations still shaping women today.
We shall begin with a composed and controlled lecture and slowly unravel into something far more honest… and far less polite.
Blending live vocals, character work and storytelling, A Respectable Woman explores:
who gets to be 'acceptable?'
what happens when you don’t comply?
and why some voices refuse to stay quiet.
Expect humour, tension, a little bit of chaos and a whole lot of truth.
No footnotes.
