Singer, songwriter and acclaimed harmonica player Grant Dermody brings a deep-rooted devotion to the blues that continues to evolve across his work. Following his previous album “Digging in John’s Backyard”, a collaboration with guitarist Frank Fotusky paying tribute to Piedmont blues pioneer John Jackson, his latest release, Behind the Sun, marks a return to electric blues, recorded in Louisiana and infused with its rich musical heritage. Featuring a stellar lineup including guitarist Dirk Powell, accordionist Corey Ledet, bassist Lee Allen Zeno, drummer Gerard St. Julien, and backing vocalists Teka Briscoe and Ahyris Navarre, the album captures the spirit and authenticity of Louisiana’s sound. With all contributors drawn from the region, Behind the Sun blends Americana and blues with a distinct regional flavour, delivering a collection of tracks that reflect both tradition and heartfelt expression.
