A Light Reignited: Bradford's Golden Dawn Temple Horus No..5

Melissa has been writing on Witchcraft and magical topics for over twenty years and has trodden varied magical paths for over thirty years. She is the author of the book Here Be Magick which is a historical investigation into the Magick, court cases and melodrama around the mysterious Coven of Atho. Her most recent book Light in Extension: A History of Bradford’s 1888 Golden Dawn Temple Horus No. 5 explores the legacy of this often overlooked, second temple of the Golden Dawn and its place in the wider Victorian Yorkshire occult scene.
In her talk for the Airedale Moot, she will give a potted history of Horus No. 5 illustrated by images of items this Magical Order used over 130 years ago!
Melissa runs the website www.thewica.co.uk about the history of modern Witchcraft and, along with fellow occultists and witches, is jointly behind ‘Wishan Books’ (www.wishanbooks.org), a small publisher of facsimile editions of 50+ year-old curios pertaining to witchcraft, as well as Liminal Gate Press (liminalgate.co.uk) a new grassroots publisher with a fresh approach to magical publishing.
Describing herself as a literary necromancer, when not being the victim of a muse, she can be found bouldering or out in her campervan visiting nature reserves and historical sites.
