🎪Get ready for a day of fun, community, and fundraising at the 74th Annual COMO Village Fair returning on Saturday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wadawanuck Square, 22 High Street in Stonington. This cherished event, a cornerstone of Stonington Borough's summer calendar, brings together families, friends, residents, and visitors for a delightful day out. Brimming with activities for all ages, the fair will include classic children’s games and prizes, a vibrant Artisan Row showcasing the talents of over 60 local artists and vendors, live musical performances, and delicious eats from popular food trucks like Captain Scott’s Lobster Dock and Taqueria Cinco, along with sweets from Chet’s Italian Ice.
📖There will be plenty to explore with the Annual Book Sale, a partnership with the Stonington Free Library, floral arrangements from the Stonington Garden Club, and loaves of Portuguese sweet bread, a local favorite. Art enthusiasts will have the opportunity to peruse and purchase handcrafted pottery from the COMO Pottery Studio. This year's commemorative poster, illustrated by talented local artist Susan Scala, captures the spirit of Stonington featuring the Lighthouse Museum. Posters and sweet bread can be preordered online at thecomo.org/village-fair.
🎒Funds raised at the COMO Village Fair support the Stonington Community Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families and nurturing community bonds since 1945. Consider becoming a sponsor to help make this beloved event possible. For sponsorship details, reach out to [email protected]. Volunteers are essential to the success of the fair, and the COMO is seeking help with various tasks throughout the day. ⚾Historic Stonington, The Stonington Community Center, The National Association of Historic Baseball Clubs and Stonington’s America 250 Committee are proud to present an 1864 baseball game double header on Saturday, August 1st. The action kicks off at 3pm at the COMO’s Bears Field, immediately adjacent to the viaduct. United States President Abraham Lincoln will be throwing out the first pitch, accompanied by members of the 8th Connecticut Regiment. At 3pm the Providence Grays will take on the New York Mutuals. After a brief intermission featuring music of the Civil War, our home team the Stonington Cannons, featuring COMO CEO Matt Haugen, will take on the Mutuals around 4:30!
