What will these funds support?
We are working to develop property in Northeast Detroit’s 48205 area with the ultimate goal to create a community centered housing program offering pathways for residents to repairs, service supports, and generational wealth through home ownership. We are trying to rebuild our neighborhood as we have been excluded from Detroit's revitalization efforts.Through the creation of an independent fund, trade school apprenticeships and post-secondary institutional endowments we seek to bring service learning that fosters infrastructure repair, home repairs, landlord accountability, and new construction for secure adequate housing for those in need, but just out of reach for services such as students in need of stable housing, disabled residents, single parents, and others.We also seek to assist with guidance and support to help lift people out of poverty and into positions of economic mobility with the ability to purchase their own homes in the neighborhood we will collectively rebuild.
Top three urgent priorities:
1)Project start up costs for legal fees to create the appropriate structures for future success and fund sourcing;
2)Pilot program house urgent repair funds that will be reinvested into helping the next family and grow to further our programmatic impact through community contractors beyond a single family at a time;
3)Project site stabilization including demolition of a structure, surveyor, fencing landscaping and endowment establishment for infrastructure.
