3rd Annual Dr. Matthew Latacha Memorial Bike Ride
About this Event
Please join us to honor the life of Dr. Matthew Latacha with a 9 or 18-mile bike ride on the West Papio Trail (run/ walk options also). Each year, we pick a different local area non-profit to support in Matthew's name.
This year, in honor of Matthew's love of animals and passion for protecting the environment, we are raising money for the Nebraska Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Our daughter has worked with this organization for several years and they do amazing work rescuing, rehabilitating, and returning wildlife back to their natural habitat.
Last year, we raised over $6000 and supoprted two projects: a healthy cooking demonstration at the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women event and the installation of a pull-up along the Zorinsky trail. Thank you for allowing us to contribute to cardiovascular health education, healthy cooking education, and an increase in strength training opportunities along the trail system.
Two years ago during the inaugural ride, we raised nearly $4200 for Bike Walk Nebraska and the money we raised helped support the passing of LB 530. This law defines "vulnerable road users" and elevates the penalty for motor vehicle homicide when a vulnerable road user is involved. Thank you for your support in protecting pedestrians and cyclists.
We cannot thank you enough for showing up, riding with us, remembering Matthew, and financially contributing to our mission to support local area non-profit organizations doing great work for our community.
